LA NECESIDAD DE UNIFICAR Y REFORZAR LA PROTECCIÓN JURÍDICA DE LA AGROBIODIVERSIDAD EN EL ORDEN INTERNACIONAL

Resum

La agrobiodiversidad, entendida como la diversidad de plantas cultivadas, animales domésticos y microorganismos asociados a los sistemas agrícolas, ha sido relegada a un segundo plano en la agenda internacional. Hasta ahora, no se ha establecido un marco jurídico sólido e integrador para su protección en el derecho internacional. Sin embargo, es alentador observar que se están produciendo cambios positivos en este aspecto. Se está reconociendo cada vez más la necesidad de proteger y preservar la agrobiodiversidad debido a su valor crucial para la seguridad alimentaria, la sostenibilidad ambiental y el bienestar humano. La agrobiodiversidad contenida en los cultivos y los recursos fitogenéticos es esencial para enfrentar los desafíos actuales y futuros en la agricultura, como el cambio climático, las plagas y enfermedades, y la escasez de recursos. Es por ello que son necesarias más investigaciones y aportaciones para lograr su adecuada y eficaz protección. En el presente trabajo se estudian las diferentes áreas en las que se puede avanzar en esta dirección.
