OPEN ACCESS

UTE T&T is an open access journal, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

ANTI-PLAGIARISM POLICY

UTE Teaching & Technology (Universitas Tarraconensis), published by Publicacions de la Universitat Rovira i Virgili, uses the anti-plagiarism platform Urkund in all its processes (you can find more information on this link).

The journal UTE is committed to maintaining ethical standards and takes as a reference the principles published by COPE, Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. It is essential that all parties involved in the process - editors, reviewers and authors - are aware of and accept the principles of this code.

By submitting the manuscripts to UTE, authors agree to accept the usual procedures in the scientific community: only original papers that have not been previously published and that are not under evaluation by other journals will be submitted. Thus, original papers submitted to UTE will not be sent to other journals until the evaluation process by our journal has been completed.

Authors must respect international copyright regulations for text, graphics and other materials included in their submissions to UTE. For their part, the journal's editors, editorial staff and reviewers must ensure that the integrity of the research, which is primarily the responsibility of the authors, is maintained. Authors are therefore called upon to continue to avoid practices such as plagiarism and ‘self-plagiarism’.

Digital Preservation Policy

All issues and articles of  UTE - Teaching & Technology  are hosted on the scientific journals portal of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and preserved through the institutional repository CORA, Repositori Obert de Coneixement (https://repositori.urv.cat/).

Authors are encouraged to deposit their published articles in other institutional or thematic repositories, which contributes to their dissemination, visibility, and long-term preservation.

Editors

  • Decision to publish articles: journal editors, after consulting with the editorial board, are responsible for deciding whether or not to publish submitted articles, following receipt of the verdicts of two external referees and, should there be significant discrepancies between these, that of a third referee. They agree to observe the same criteria for acceptance or rejection of articles in accordance with the originality, relevance and clarity of the same. Editors must offer mechanisms for appeal against editorial decisions to the editorial board. Likewise, they must offer complete and up-to-date instructions regarding authors’ responsibilities and the characteristics of the articles submitted to the journal.
  • Non-discrimination: editors shall examine submitted articles without consideration of the race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, country of origin, nationality or political orientation of the authors.
  • Confidentiality: editors and other staff associated with the journal agree not to disclose information about the articles received to persons other than the actual author or the referees. Likewise, they guarantee that the procedure shall be conducted in such a way that the anonymity of the referees and authors is guaranteed under all circumstances.
  • Conflict of interests and disclosure: editors agree not to use the results of submitted articles in their own research work unless they receive the author’s explicit consent.
  • Errata: editors shall publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies should they be necessary.
  • Quality: the opinions of the authors, referees and editorial board shall be requested in order to improve the editorial procedure.

Referees

  • Expert reviews: the double blind review system shall be employed, a procedure that helps the editors and the editorial board to make decisions about submitted articles while also enabling the authors to make improvements to their work.
  • Respect for deadlines: after agreeing to review an article, referees must respect the agreed time periods; if they are unable to meet a deadline they should give the editors sufficient prior warning of this.
  • Confidentiality: articles submitted for review are considered confidential documents, so the referees cannot discuss them with third parties unless they have permission to do so from the editors.
  • Objectivity: reviews must be objective; personal views about the author are not to be taken into consideration and referees’ opinions of the work must be supported by appropriate and justified arguments.
  • Bibliographical indications: the referees agree to offer precise bibliographical details on important texts on the subject matter that the author may have omitted; likewise, the referees shall report to the editors on similarities or overlaps between the text received and other works, if there are any.
  • Conflict of interests and disclosure: Any reserved information that has been obtained as a result of the review procedure shall be considered confidential and may not be used for personal purposes; if the review of an article supposes a conflict with the referee’s own interests due to collaborations or competition with the author or with the institution that he/she represents, the referee must reject the review proposal.

Authors

  • Authorship of the text: the proposed article must be signed by its author and, if applicable, by any other person who has collaborated in a significant way in the planning, organisation, elaboration or processing of the research that is at the base of the article. In case of co-authorship, the author sending the text must explicitly declare that the names of all the authors appear in the work, that they have given their approval and consent to the final version of the article to be published.
  • Responsibility: authors are responsible for the content of their manuscript.
  • Plagiarism and originality: the authors declare that the work submitted to the journal is original in each and every one of its parts and correctly cite all the sources used.
  • Access to and preservation of data: the authors of the articles will have to clarify, at the request of the editor, the sources or data on which the research is based. These data will be kept for a reasonable period of time after publication and may be disclosed if necessary.
  • Multiple, repetitive or conflicting publications: the author shall not publish articles presenting the same research in more than one journal simultaneously.
  • Conflict of interest and disclosure: the authors explicitly declare that there is no conflict of interest that has conditioned the results of the research or the interpretations proposed. They will also indicate the sources of funding for the research, if applicable, as well as the project in which the article is framed.
  • Errors in published articles: if an author identifies a relevant error or inaccuracy in a published article, they must inform the journal editor and provide all the necessary information so that the appropriate corrections can be made.
  • Use of inclusive language: anyone submitting an article to UTE is requested to use inclusive language and to take gender into account in the source data of their research in order to allow the identification of possible differences.
  • In order to ensure diversity of authorship and editorial quality, the journal will limit publication to a maximum of one article per author per calendar year, whether as lead author or co-author. In exceptional cases, the editorial team may consider justified requests based on their scientific relevance.
  • A rejected article will not be considered again, unless there is a change and revision of more than 50% of the content.

Self-Archiving and Repositories

Authors are permitted to deposit all versions of their manuscript in an institutional or subject repository of their choice, including:

  • Submitted version (pre-print)
  • Accepted version (Author Accepted Manuscript)
  • Published version (Version of Record)

We recommend that authors include a link to the published version on the journal’s website and cite UTE as the original place of publication.

This policy aligns with the journal’s commitment to Open Access and the dissemination of knowledge without barriers.

Process of experts' evaluation

The decision of the Editorial Board of UTE Teaching & Technology (Universitas Tarraconensis) about the possible publication of the article, in accordance with the scientific quality criteria, must be notified to the authors within one month after receipt. If approved, possible improvements can be suggested confidentially and anonymously before sending the work to the external referees through the peer review system, who must issue a report. In case of disagreement, a third evaluation should be requested. The Editorial Board has the final decision in the light of the referees' reports.

The answer about the evaluation must be notified within 60 working days.
