Abstract
The effective integration of graphic representation technologies in higher education in architecture depends on strategies that have not been sufficiently developed, so there is a need to implement a pedagogical framework to guide its incorporation in response to the dynamic demands of the current construction and building industry. The objective was to implement graphic representation technologies based on a proposed pedagogical model aimed at improving the academic performance of architecture students. A quasi-experimental correlational quantitative method was used to carry out the implementation in the Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture at the Autonomous University of Queretaro, Mexico. The participants in the study were two groups of students enrolled in a subject belonging to the Communication disciplinary axis of the curriculum. This axis promotes competencies in graphic, written and oral language. AutoCAD, VR and AR with 3D Warehouse SketchUp were used for the elaboration of architectural models and project visualization. A positive impact was identified with the improvement of the understanding of the concepts involved in the acquisition of visual and spatial skills necessary for the construction of three-dimensional models, although no statistically significant difference was observed in the academic performance of the students compared to the control group. It is proposed to rethink the model to improve technological accessibility.Supporting agencias
