Abstract
Digital competence is essential for the personal and professional development of students, facilitating their access to information, communication and innovation. The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer a comprehensive framework for addressing global challenges. The integration of computational thinking into educational curricula is important to prepare the new generations. It enhances critical skills such as problem-solving, logical thinking, and creativity, skills needed to address complex issues related to the SDGs. This article presents the “ConnectApps” Project, which integrates digital competence and the SDGs in early childhood and primary education. The project was implemented in four rural schools with a total of 274 students and 29 teachers, following four phases: previous activities, creation of games with Scratch Junior, sharing of materials and closing of the project. The results show that cooperative work between educational cycles and mentoring of higher cycle students were strong points of the project, favouring meaningful learning and the development of digital competence in a playful way. However, technological limitations were one of the main challenges. This project shows that the integration of digital competence in education can contribute significantly to achieving the SDGs, promoting sustainable and inclusive development.Supporting agencias
