It was the first of its kind and tried to define the standpoint of a young, flourishing speciality in German Ethnological and Anthropological studies. Until this point in time, European Anthropology (Or better said: Anthropological studies on Europa) was uniformely regarded by German anthropology and other sciences as Volkskunde (which claims to deal with all European research).
